DWTS 14 Week 2: Katherine Jenkins in first
On the second night of competition, Welsh opera singer Katherine Jenkins and her partner Mark Ballas again received the high score of the night to a total of 52 points. Jenkins and Ballas danced the jive to ”Ain’t Nothing Wrong With That” by Robert Randolph and the Family Band.
Disney star Roshon Fegan and his partner Chelsie Hightower also received a 26 and that brought them up to tie for second place with Latin hunk William Levy and his partner Cheryl Burke who received a 25 for a total of 49 points. Fegan and Hightower were dancing the quickstep to ”Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” by Good Charlotte and were the top score for the quickstep. Levy and Burke were also dancing the quickstep, but got a low score from head judge Len Goodman, a 7, while the other two judges gave them nines. They danced to ”Nice Work If You Can Get It” by George Gershwin.
The smooth Jaleel White fell to fourth when his jive routine with Kym Johnson only received a 22 for a total of 48 points. They danced the jive with an eight from Bruno Tonioli and two sevens from the other judges.
Although week 1 saw no team below 20, this week two teams were only teen worthy: Martina Navratilova and Tony Dovolani who received the lowest score of the night with 17 and Gladys Knight and her partner Tristan MacManus who were given a 19.
That left Navratilova and Dovolani with the lowest overall score. Actress Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were only given a 20 for their quickstep, but that left them only three points ahead of Navratilova and Dovolani.
What do you say? I say Navratilova and Dovolani should be the first to go.

DWTS 13 FINALS: Rob Kardashian leads
Tonight, Rob Kardashian received his first perfect score for his freestyle performance. J.R. Martinez and his partner Karina Smirnoff also received a 30 for their freestyle, but it was Kardashian and his professional partner’s 27 for their waltz that gave them the lead with a score of 57.
- Robert Kardashian & Cheryl Burke : 27+30=57
- J.R. Martinez & Karina Smirnoff : 24+30=54
- Ricki Lake & Derek Hough : 27+27=54
While Martinez and Smirnoff got full points for their freestyle routine, their cha cha cha got mixed reviews. Head judge Len Goodman gave them his lowest score of the night with a 7. Carrie Ann Inaba liked them slightly better with an 8. Bruno Tonioli gave the pair a nine.
Ricki Lake and Derek Hough were good enough to get nines from all the judges for their cha cha cha and also for their freestyle.
Viewers can vote via phone and text message for their favorites ONLY on the night they perform; online voting ends at 11AM ET/8AM PT the day following the performances.
To vote by text message, text the word “VOTE” to your favorite couple’s number below from your AT&T phone. Message and data rates may apply.

DWTS 13, Week 5: JR on top; Kardashian and Arquette tie for second
Fire up the flux capacitor and bring back the big shoulders, big hair and bright colors for glam rockers of the 1980s. Yes, it was the 80′s week tonight on “Dancing with the Stars” and although Ricki Lake made it big in that decade, she fell from the top spot. It was J.R. Martinez and his partner Karina Smirnoff who were number one with Robert Kardashian and his partner and Cheryl Burke and David Arquette and Kym Johnson who were tied for second.
Lake made a splash on the silver screen as the lead in the 1988 “Hairspray.” She played a heavy set girl who could dance and changed the attitudes of others. Yet tonight, her foxtrot to Phil Collins’ “Easy Lover” only received 24 points.
J.R. Martinez was the only celebrity to receive a 10 (from Bruno Tonioli) with his samba to “Conga” by Gloria Estefan. His score was 28.
The big surprise of the night were the guys who came in second. Robert Kardashian with Cheryl Burke proved that he can dance with his rumba to “Hello” by Lionel Richie. Kardashian got a nine from Carrie Ann Inaba and eights from the other two judges. David Arquette who had a breakthrough last week in terms of characterization on the stage, turned in a 25 with a 9 from the tough head judge Len Goodman for his tango with Kym Johnson.

During the live shows, the judges will give each couple a score based on several factors, including technical execution. But the judges’ scores alone do not decide a couple’s fate.
Phone lines, text votes (AT&T customers only) and online voting will open at the top of each performance show so that viewers can vote for their favorites. Phone and text lines will stay open until 30 minutes after the end of the show in your local time zone. Online voting will remain open until 11AM (Eastern Time)/ 8AM (Pacific Time) the following day.
In the Dancing with the Stars Results Show, the couple with the lowest combined score from judges and viewer votes will be eliminated from the competition. When the final two couples remain, the ultimate dance-off will determine who wins the trophy.

DWTS 13, Week 2: Chaz in trouble
Tonight on “Dancing with the Stars” it was all about stamina and quick precise action with the quickstep and jive. That left transgender activist Chaz Bono and his partner Lacey Schwimmer at the bottom with 17 points after the quickstep and David Arquette and Kym Johnson jived to straight sixes to tie with Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya (quickstep) for the second from the bottom spot.
Who was at the top? Actress and talk show host Ricki Lake and her partner Derek Hough. In second was Kristin Cavallari and Mark Ballas with 22.

PROCEDURE FOR ELIMINATING COUPLES:
Each week every couple receives points from the judges and votes from the public. For every couple we determine the share they received of the total points given by the judges on the night of the performances, and the share they received of the public’s votes and add these two shares together. The couple with the lowest combined total is eliminated from the show.
For example if couples A, B and C respectively receive 38, 26 and 14 points from the judges, we calculate what share these points represent of the total awarded by the judges on the night. In this example the judges gave 78 points in total, and each couples’ share of 78 points breaks down as follows: A: 38 points = 48.72% of 78; B: 26 points = 33.33% of 78; C: 14 points = 17.95% of 78. Let’s suppose that when the public votes are tallied, each couple has the following shares: A= 20%, B=40%, C=40%. To determine who’s eliminated, we combine these two shares for the total:
Couple A: 20+48.72%= 68.72%
Couple B: 40+33.33%= 73.33%
Couple C: 40+17.95%= 57.95%
In this example, the bottom two couples would be A and C, and C would be eliminated.

One (or more) couple(s) will be knocked out of the competition each week there is a results show. The couple with the lowest overall score is knocked out of the competition.
The scoring and format of the show is unique to the series and is not based on a standard dance championship.
