Jump Tour begins in Miami mid-September

Jump is one of the largest dance conventions in the world and the tour will hit 22 U.S. cities and 7 international cities. Each event includes a workshop and competition in a fun supportive environment. I guess that means that certain snide British judges and their wanna-bes won’t be there.

What happens at a Jump dance convention? Here’s what Jump says about itself:

  • JUMP was the first dance convention to bring out a full video crew to every city. Seven years ago we started bringing four huge projection screens and ten plasma TVs to each city, so that dancers could get a better view of the teacher. For Mike Minery’s tap classes, we have a close up view of Mike’s feet so that everyone in the room can learn without obstruction.
  • Jump originated the “Music Video Class” where dancers work with our camera crew every weekend and create their very own Music & Dance Video! The video then gets shown to all the dancers during the weekend’s closing show. Click here to see last year’s music video!
  • Seven years ago, JUMP was the first dance convention to offer online registration through its website. Click Here to register online!
  • JUMP is the first (and only) dance convention that provides a free webcast of our competitions!
  • Jump is the first (and only) dance convention that provides each dancer with a personalized “JUMP Handbook” before the event. This handbook includes a personalized workshop and competition schedule as well as all the info for the event. Studios don’t have to make copies of the schedule anymore!! Each dancer can also download their personalized JUMP Handbook right from our website!!
  • Before JUMP, awards at dance competitions and conventions consisted of the same old plaques and trophies. JUMP introduced license plate trophies, dog tags and platinum records!
  • Seven years ago, JUMP introduced the Rubber-Band Bracelet. These were in place of those annoying plastic ID straps normally given out at conventions. JUMP’s Rubber-Band Bracelets can be taken on and off easily and are quite fashionable!
  • JUMP was the first convention to bring out a live band and singers to perform in the classes!
  • JUMP was the first convention to bring their National Finale out of the hotel ballroom and into real professional theatres! JUMP boasts sold out shows on Broadway at The Hudson Theater, world-renowned rock n’ roll venue Hammerstein Ballroom, the Gibson Amphitheatre in L.A., and most recently the six thousand-seat Radio City Music Hall in NYC.
  • JUMP started the “Teachers ONLY” critique DVD. There are things a judge might want to say JUST to the teacher.Maybe it’s about a particular dancer, a costume, or choreography suggestions. Therefore, one judge on the panel will be doing a TEACHERS ONLY DVD. This way Teachers will receive their very own DVD, with feedback for their ears only!
