DWTS 14 Week 8: Roshon Fegan almost perfect in foxtrot
Last night on DWTS, Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower finished in second place over all with 56. Fegan and Hightower received two tens for an almost perfect foxtrot. Only head judge Len Goodman found the pair less than perfect. For their second dance, it was a Latin Trio and with the help of Sasha Farber, Fegan and Hightower earned 27.
For the foxtrot, Fegan and Hightower were sweet and light as they danced to ”Sweet Pea” by Amos Lee.
Bruno Tonioli dubbed the pair “the sweetest of sweethearts” and commended Hightower for smoothing out Fegan’s hip hop popping because there was no jerkiness. Fegan had good form in hold and clean lines. Tonioli compared Fegan to a ”young Mickey Rooney,” but I don’t think Rooney ever danced at Fegan’s level.
Carrie Ann Inaba told Fegan that he made his grandmothers proud and DWTS proud. Fegan’s grandmothers had peeked in during rehearsal and were in the audience.
Len Goodman felt the two did well and commented, ”Good job dog.”
For the foxtrot, Fegan and Hightower have the second highest score of the season. On top would be William Levy and Cheryl Burke who posted a perfect score last night.
In their Trio dance, Fegan and Hightower were paired with with Sasha Farber from the DWTS dance troupe for the paso doble (danced to Turn Me On” by David Guetta featuring Nicki Minaj). Hightower like Burke decided to include a male dancer to push Fegan to a higher level. Farber really helped Fegan find his inner machismo resulting in beautiful Spanish lines. The choreography mistake was having the two men perform moves requiring synchronization. Still, you’d expect that in team competition and this particularly forces improvement.
All the judges noted that Fegan fell out of sync.
Tonioli complimented Fegan for his strength, power and artistry as well as his beautiful Spanish lines.
Goodman joked that it was “two skinny fries chasing the ketchup,” but more seriously said he enjoyed the lovely, powerful lines.
The threesome received a 27 (9, 9, 9) and that was the second highest score this season for the paso doble. Fegan and Hightower were tied with William Levy and Cheryl Burke who also scored a 27 for the paso doble last night.
Two seems like Fegan’s lucky number, but Fegan and Hightower have posted high scores, but still been the bottom-two three times during the results show. Twice they won a dance duel, but Tuesday night is a double elimination. Fegan-Hightower have an average score of 25.7. Jenkins and Ballas have a 27.2 average and Levy and Burke a 26.5. The weakest couple is Gilbert-Maksim, but their fan base is strong. It would be a shame if Fegan and Hightower were eliminated, but considering the established pattern, they will likely be one of the two teams eliminated.

DWTS 14 Week 2: Roshon Fegan brings swagga to quickstep
To be a Disney kid you have to have clean cut talent and Roshon Fegan has that. On the second week of “Dancing with the Stars” season 14, Fegan and Hightower received the top score for the quickstep and finished the night with a cumulative score that put them in a tie for second with William Levy and Cheryl Burke.
Fegan and Hightower were dancing to ”Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” by Good Charlotte. Hightower was in white strapless looking full length gown. Fegan was in a black tux, but the collar of the tux jacket has crystals on it. They are a cute couple even if, as according to Fegan, Hightower “needs a swag upgrade.”
Len Goodman said he liked it. “It was young, it was fresh and I thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Bruno Tonioli exclaimed Fegan had “more sparks than a bolt of lightening” and “a cheeky swagger” that was absolutely delicious.
Carrie Ann Inaba was worried that all that swagger wouldn’t work with the quickstep, but she dubbed him a little prince.
Did you love him? I did. He’s cute. He’s sweet and he has some fine dance moves and a great smile. I even found it adorable that he stuck his tongue out at least once.

Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins and Pasadena’s Jaleel White lead
Opera singer Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas were tied with Jaleel White and Kym Johnson with 26 points. Both got nines from Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba; it was head judge Len Goodman who only thought the two worthy of eights.
Both couples danced the foxtrot.
This week there was no one celebrity that was so awful your eyes hurt. Three couples were tied for last place, but with a respectable 20. Tennis great Martina Navratilova and her partner Tony Dovolani performed the cha cha cha; Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Gavin Degraw and Karina Smirnoff performed the foxtrot.
Navratilova is 55; Gilbert is 47 and DeGraw is 35. Quite an age spread at the bottom. Jack Wagner is 52. It’s Gladys Knight who at 67 is the oldest contestant this season.
Knight received the same score as the youngest contestant, Roshon Fegan. They were in a group of four couples tied for fourth with 23.
