Dancing with the Stars Season 11: Jennifer Grey

Jennifer Grey is probably best known for her role in a famous dance movie, the 1987 “Dirty Dance” in which she played Baby opposite the late Patrick Swayze. Born in New York, she is the daughter of Broadway actor Joel Grey and singer Jo Wilder.

FAMOUS FOR: Grey was in a Dr. Pepper ad when she was 19. In 1986 she played the sister of the title character in the 1986 movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” In 1987, she would be in “Dirty Dancing.”  Although her father was the original emcee on the Broadway show “Cabaret” (a part he would reprise in the 1972 movie) Grey appeared in 1993 in “The Twilight of the Golds.”

THE NOSE JOB: Grey had a rhinoplasty in the 1990s which resulted in a dramatic change of appearance.

AGE: 50

26 March 1960 (Aries)

DANCING: Grey was in the low budget “Dirty Dancing.” Choreographer Kenny Ortega would go on to direct the Disney “High School Musical” movies. The director Emile Ardolino required that the cast be dancers who could act (unlike the 1983 “Flashdance”).  Grey is therefore a trained dancer. Dancing was part of the social life around the filming of that movie. The movie won an Oscar for “Best Original Song,” a Golden Globe for Best Original Song, a Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo. Do you think we’ll be seeing something out of “Dirty Dancing”?

PARTNER: Derek Hough is rumored to be Grey’s partner.
