DWTS 14 Week 2: Donald Driver gets an apology (VIDEO)

Donald Driver got a first last night on “Dancing with the Stars” season 14. After Driver and his partner Peta Murgatroyd performed the quickstep to “Stay the Night” by James Blunt, they got something they didn’t expect: an apology from head judge Len Goodman.

Last week Driver danced the cha cha cha for triple sevens. But Goodman said Driver should have scored better. We knew that, or maybe I was distracted by his bright smile and his genial on-stage personality.

This week instead of shaking his hips, he was showing how fast his feet were and how much a gentleman he could be. The expression on his face and his arms were lovely. His feet could be cleaner. And he accepted Len Goodman’s apology with grace.

Goodman, after apologizing said that his performance was “up there with the best I’ve seen this night.” Goodman also showed that by admitting he was wrong, he also felt integrity was important. That’s easy this season when there doesn’t seem to be a Bristol Palin conundrum in the cast.

Bruno Tonioli complimented Driver on his great lines and found him refined and elegant.

Carrie Ann Inaba said his overall performance was beautiful and smooth and loved his holding his frame.

We don’t think Driver will be going home any time soon. That’s a good thing for Murgatroyd who was, by Carson Kressley’s account trying too hard. Historically, football players always move past the first elimination.
